Last weeks SUPER Heroes!

Last week's camp ended with a service learning project and a bike ride... The kids cleaned out a flower bed and planted new plants at Barton Springs Pool then scrubbed the algae at the pool. They did awesome helping others out!

A New group of Campers!!!

Look we have a new group of kids....
Today we started with a few team building games, a workout, then "Steal the Bacon" in the pool... (We couldn't figure out why it is called "Steal the BACON"?)
Our day just flies by with all of this fun....

"Explore Austin" workout

How many teenagers do you know who will voluntarily get up to workout at 6 in the morning, before they go to school?>? I think these guys are a rare and very special group...

What is Explore Austin you say?....

Founded in 2006, Explore Austin combines the benefits of mentoring and outdoor adventure in a six-year program for 6th through 12th grade inner-city youth. Focusing on team building and leadership training by utilizing its unique ACES framework, Explore Austin helps “Explorers” (we refer to participants as Explorers) increase self-confidence, build character, and develop a sense of responsibility for themselves and those around them. With seven Saturday Events and a week long Summer Wilderness Trip to remote destinations, Explore Austin seeks and attracts motivated students who desire to learn how to become leaders, experience new places, make lasting friendships, and seek challenges. Our hands-on approach and belief in learning by doing means our Explorers leave the program more confident, more experienced, and ready to lead.

First Day of Kids Camps!!!!

We had some teamwork activities where we got pretty close for the first day, but it was tons of fun! Getting tied up in a knot is a great way to make new friends!!
Today our workout was 10 pushups
10 squats
250 m Row
x5 rounds...
We built egg towers, went swimming, worked out, and had lunch under a shady tree.
The campers were awesome! I can't wait until tomorrow!

This was a team building activity where they had to figure out how to get everyone in the circle and they mastered it with some creativity!
